Al Shahla is one of the many apartment buildings located at the gateway of The Palm, Jumeirah, Dubai.There are different types of rooms. The one I came across, while helping a friend of mine setup was having a single spacious bedroom, a central lounge connecting through an open window to a kitchen that is also well designed.There is also a broom closet. The bathroom is spacious and has a tub too. The access is implemented through an RFID card.The vicinity is very beautiful with a very good scenery that can be seen from the upper floors, as far as the Burj Khalifa, with Burj Al Arab and the nearby beaches in the way.The building has an underground parking and a mall Nakheel Mall nearby. Theres also a jogging track in the rear of these apartment buildings.The thing I found disconcerting was the particularly gloomy entrance. Dimly lit and just not very welcoming, at least until youre used to it.

We booked an apartment for a week in February and it wasnt a bad price considering its on the palm. The taxi from Dubai airport only takes around 30 minutes but be careful as there are some women-only taxi drivers and you can only get in if your female. The apartment was very large and had a good kitchen with lots of utensils. There was was a TV and DVD player in the front room and it was cleaned every other day for us. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the apartments and it was quite empty considering the number of apartments around the area. There was also a great view of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah from the shoreline. Taxis are quite cheap and the drivers work long hours for relatively low pay so so give the taxi driver a good tip when youre dropped off and hell appreciate it. You can also book taxis for a day to take you around. We hired a taxi from the Palm to Abu Dhabi Formula 1 race track and it cost around £90 which isnt bad for an hours drive. The locals are really respectful so please show a bit of respect back and read about local custom before you go so you dont offend. (No kissing or being drunk on the streets etc)

A wonderful house with excellent infrastructure. Roads for walking and sports, shops, cafes and restaurants - all within walking distance. Ideal for a quiet family life
